The Windermere Valley Museum hosted a tea with a Theme cake served in honour of Conrad Kain on June 6, with guest speaker Arnor Larson sharing Kain anecdotes with upwards of 100 people curious about Kain and life in the valley during his time.
Most of the displays in the main building have been dedicated to "Kain and Mountaineering in the Valley". There are some climbing artifacts on display as well as many photos. The Display will continue until Mid-September.
Also, the special expanded Centennial Edition of Kain's autobiography, Where the Clouds Can Go, was launched at the museum (in conjunction with Dave's Book Bar) during the tea. CKCS vice chair Pat Morrow was honoured to be invited to write the new foreword to the book, and was on hand to answer questions about Kain and the book.
The Tea kicked off the opening of the Museum for the summer.
The CKCS has worked closely with the Windermere District Historical Society from our inception, and would like to thank them for their support - our monthly meetings are held in their meeting room.
