BC Hydro Sponsors Bugaboos Teens Program 2012

We are really pleased to announce that BC Hydro's East Kootenay Donations & Sponsorship Committee has approved our application and awarded the Conrad Kain Centennial Society $1,500 to allow three youth to attend the mountaineering program in summer 2012.

This program will be based on the highly successful Bugaboos Teens Program hosted in 2011 by BC Parks (in conjunction with their 100th anniversary celebration), Canadian Mountain Holidays, and members of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, with support from the Conrad Kain Centennial Society.

Closer to next summer, we'll be visiting schools in the Kootenays with a slide show based on two previous teen outings in the Bugaboos. We hope to recruit up to 10 grade 10 or 11 students.

We aim to keep the costs down through donations of volunteer services and cash from individuals and organizations to the point where the students need only provide their outdoor clothing and boots.

We intend this to be an annual event.
